The staging and direction were intelligent. T was a surprisingly effective production for a modest, if enterprising, touring company. They presented a fully staged production of Puccini‘s popular opera “ Madama Butterfly” (below). Last Saturday my wife and I went down there for a one-night visit by a touring company called the Teatro Lirico d’Europa, mainly composed of Bulgarian singers and players, led and directed by Giorgio Lalov. But what thought might we give just a little beyond, to Edgerton? Yes, we know and treasure that nearby jewel, the Stoughton Opera House. Madison is blessed with such a rich musical culture that it is tempting for us not to bother looking around our broader local area for musical activities and facilities. He serves on the Board of Advisors for the Madison Early Music Festival and frequently gives pre-concert lectures in Madison.
